Hi, I'm Paul
From startups to the Fortune 500, I'm a UX leader who helps companies define, design and launch world-class digital products.
In my two decades of experience, I've accumulated valuable insights through my work on diverse products for organizations such as the NFL, VMware, and Corteva.
Throughout my career I've been fortunate to work with some of the world's finest organizations and those that are just getting started.
With over two decades of experience, I have successfully launched software products used by millions of people for diverse organizations, ranging from nimble consumer-focused startups to expansive enterprise-class corporations, navigating the space in between.
I understand the weight of designing for an iconic brand.
Minnesota Vikings
I had the honor of launching the 50th anniversary digital experience for the franchise that has brought me both happiness and heartache since childhood. Skol, Vikings, let's go!
Paul is a gifted Designer. Hand him a napkin with some chicken scratch and he will hand you back a diamond. Any time I could start a sprint out ahead of the development team with Paul I would do it. User stories would complete consistently when we had Paul's wireframes and markup to speed the developers along. When I had to run without Paul's support I expected questions about the user experience from both development and QA.
I recall many occasions where stake holders were torn on what the experience should be for a new feature or for resolving issues with an existing one. We could always rely on Paul to present options and help us find a solution. I survived many meetings with stakeholders who were anxious to see progress with Paul's wireframes.
I had the privilege to work with Paul at VMware where he lead our UI design and User experience efforts. Paul is very creative but also brings a deep understanding of current UI patterns and emerging trends. Perhaps one of Paul's greatest skills is his ability to listen and ask the right questions to really understand the user's goals and the requirements before building a wireframe. He lead our team into doing more usability testing and always pushed the team forward for a better customer experience.
Paul Sylling is one of the finest UX professionals I have had the honor of working with. He brings a great balance of technical know-how and creative talent. He is a strong advocate for the user, but at the same understands what is and is not technically feasible. Paul will be an asset to any company that is serious about providing a first-class experience to its users.
Paul definitely pays attention to detail. He is great at communicating with all members of the team, whether it be executives, management, product owners, marketing, and engineers. Paul paired up with some engineers can create an amazing product!
Kind Words
It takes great people to build great products. Relationships are everything in UX, both with our teammates and our customers.
In my time at VMware I had the chance to work with some of the most brilliant in the industry and here is what they had to say about working with me.
VMware, the industry-leading solution for enterprise virtualization, aimed to enter the SMB market. However, to tackle this complex domain, a simplified approach was essential.
I removed the complexity and designed a simpler onboarding into virtualization leading to hockey stick growth and an acquisition by VMware in 2011.
